One caveat worth stating plainly
Photos help enormously with scope, but some work needs an in-person survey before anyone can
give you a dependable final price. Larger areas, uncertain backgrounds, damp, blown plaster,
rendering and period-property work usually fall into that category.
The photos that make a plastering enquiry easy to price
Three good ones beat six rushed ones.
- The whole thing. One photo showing the entire wall, ceiling or room.
- The problem, up close. Cracks, blown areas, texture or damage in detail.
- From the opposite corner. This shows access, scale and the height of the room in one shot.
- Every elevation, for rendering. Stand as far back as you can get.
- Any damp staining. Photograph it as it is — see the note below.
Do not disturb an older textured coating for a photo
Do not scrape, sand, drill or break a textured coating just to see what is underneath.
Coatings applied before 2000 may contain asbestos, and you cannot tell by looking. If that
is a possibility, leave it alone and get competent advice first.

Room size matters, but it is only part of it. The condition of the existing plaster, preparation, ceiling height, access, furniture, the number of corners and openings, boarding, specialist materials, waste and drying requirements all change the scope — and therefore the price.
You will not find a "from £X per room" figure on this site, because we do not have genuine local job data yet and inventing one to attract clicks is exactly the behaviour that makes people distrust trade websites. When we publish price ranges they will carry the date, the assumptions, the VAT position and where the numbers came from.

Can a plastering job be quoted from photos?
Some smaller, straightforward jobs can get an initial price from good photographs and measurements. Larger areas, uncertain backgrounds, damp, blown plaster, external rendering and period-property work usually need a site visit before anyone can give a dependable final quotation. We will tell you which category yours falls into rather than pretending every job can be priced from a photo.
What photos should I send?
A wide view of the whole room or elevation, a close-up of the problem, and one more showing access and scale. For rendering, photograph each elevation from as far back as you can get. Do not disturb an older textured coating to expose what is underneath it.
Do I need to know the room measurements?
No. Add them if you have them, but the form works perfectly well without square-metre calculations. Photos and a postcode are more useful than a number you are unsure about.
Is the enquiry free?
